passion project

How important is it to follow a passion project besides our jobs? Can that become bigger than our 8-5?

I have been trying to develop certain skills that will help me become a full-time content creator for 4 years. I have come to a point where I have clarity about my intentions, tools, methods, and medium. It’s been slow, ridden with failed ideas, and certainly tiring. I do recognize that those experiences are essential to the average success story. Surprisingly, there’s always been one thing that never dwindled in the process of becoming better and that was my motivation.

Motivation is what has made my efforts distinguish themselves from a side hustle. My passion project has brought me happiness beyond the measurable attributes of a job. The tag of a brand we work for, the salary, the city, and the rest. The things that usher comparison and feed our egos. My journey is personal and only care about self-improvement.

We are all multifaceted, my passion and skills define my individuality. My interest has added a significant amount of meaning and purpose to my life, beyond the needs of the working world. It has allowed me to trust myself and shield myself from the judgments of others.

I do prefer having a prescribed profession to start with, as sustenance is essential to give a fertile ground for our passions to flourish. But, I look forward to the time when the fruits of labor take me on a journey I’ve been secretly waiting for.
